Fleet rollout for the IMG project in Groningen

Mon 30/03/2026 - 14:00

At Terwolde Groningen, the final vehicles of a new fleet have been delivered: 120 electric Renault 5s. These cars will be used by SOCOTEC employees carrying out work for the Institute for Mining Damage Groningen (IMG). With this step, SOCOTEC ensures that its teams can operate safely, efficiently, and sustainably, in line with the scale of the project.

Collaboration as a key success factor

The project was made possible through close cooperation with Terwolde B.V., Renault Netherlands, Santander Leasing, Matchmakers in Mobiliteit, and Emil Frey Mobility BV. Together, a mobility solution was developed that meets both the operational needs of the IMG project and SOCOTEC’s sustainability ambitions. A noteworthy detail: the choice of the Renault 5 symbolically reflects SOCOTEC’s French roots and enhances the fleet’s recognizability.

Green Trust: expertise in sustainability

The fleet rollout aligns perfectly with SOCOTEC Netherlands’ Green Trust program. This program brings together expertise in energy, environment, and sustainability, and supports organizations in making buildings, installations, and infrastructure more sustainable throughout their entire lifecycle. By adopting electric mobility, SOCOTEC directly contributes to lower CO₂ emissions and the company’s broader environmental goals.

Corporate Social Responsibility

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a key pillar of SOCOTEC’s approach. Initiatives such as Green Trust and the greening of the vehicle fleet demonstrate that the company not only takes responsibility for its own impact, but also actively contributes to a safe, sustainable, and resilient society. The IMG project is a concrete example where employees can perform their work optimally, while sustainability and social responsibility go hand in hand.

Towards a sustainable future

With the rollout of 120 Renault 5s, SOCOTEC Netherlands underscores its ambition to create a future-proof and environmentally friendly working and living environment. The project shows how innovation, collaboration, and sustainable choices come together in a practical and socially relevant initiative.
