A healthy indoor climate is essential in educational institutions such as schools and universities.

SOCOTEC periodically carries out air quality measurements, tests whether the installations meet the standards and ensures that they are managed in accordance with the legislation and regulations.

Students perform better in a healthy working environment; amongst other things proper ventilation in the sometimes listed buildings is very important. The bacteriological air quality is also an important subject since there are so many students close together in the lecture rooms. SOCOTEC has various clients in the education sector for which it carries out periodical air quality measurements. These tests determine whether the air quality meets the principles of the current requirements.

Parameters such as CO2, temperature, relative humidity and particulate matter are measured. In addition, samples of the air are taken to test for the presence of bacteria and mould.

The owners of educational buildings have a duty of care with regard to the water quality. SOCOTEC tests whether the installations meet the standards and ensures that they are managed in accordance with the legislation and regulations. In case of emergencies, measures are taken and a plan is drawn up to avoid them reoccurring in the future.

Having work carried out during school hours is often undesirable. That is why SOCOTEC takes the initiative to gear the planning to holiday periods or before or after lessons or lectures. This keeps the inconvenience for students and pupils to a minimum. SOCOTEC’s clients include colleges and universities with which long-term relationships have been developed. New clients find SOCOTEC through their network of educational institutions or via our website.
