ClipR sensors: sustainable, simple and reliable legionella management

Wed 11/02/2026 - 08:43

Proper temperature control helps prevent the growth of Legionella and other pathogens, yet maintaining continuous insight can be challenging. In this article, we explain how ClipR sensors provide a practical, sustainable, and reliable solution.

Drinking water safety starts with insight

Legionella and other bacteria can multiply rapidly at water temperatures between 25 and 50 °C. ClipR sensors provide building owners, installers, and facility managers with real-time insight into these risks. Installation is simple, reliable, and completely wireless, eliminating the need for complex cabling or intensive maintenance. In addition, the sensors can be repositioned for technical investigations or system optimisation.

Smart measurements without hassle

The sensors measure drinking water temperature four times per hour and securely transmit the data to the cloud via the LoRaWAN network. This provides a reliable, up-to-date overview of temperature management. Manual measurements are no longer required, as risk areas are detected more quickly and unnecessary flushing is automatically minimised. By recording flush events, flushing occurs only where necessary, saving water, reducing costs, and lowering environmental impact.

Effortless water monitoring

Not every organisation wishes to invest in its own equipment or technical management. SOCOTEC Netherlands provides a full-service solution, from advice on measurement locations, installation, and monitoring to compliance with the BRL 6010 guideline. ClipR sensors are supplied and installed, with SOCOTEC Netherlands as your permanent point of contact for advice, project support, and operational monitoring.

More sustainable than manual measurements

The leasing concept reduces the costs of automated monitoring compared with manual measurements. By optimising sensor reuse, minimising site visits, and managing devices efficiently, service life, battery life, and performance are fully maintained, supported by professional checks from SOCOTEC Netherlands. Additionally, hot water can be regulated more precisely, saving energy and costs, while flushing occurs only where necessary.

Certainty in legionella monitoring

SOCOTEC Netherlands is BRL 6010 certified and a specialist in the field of Legionella prevention. In collaboration with our technical partner FactoryLab, we provide a digital, secure, and future-proof solution. Whether for healthcare institutions, schools, or office buildings, ClipR delivers reliable monitoring, without the need for you to invest in equipment, maintenance, or subscriptions.
