Project description
The former Knoop barracks in the centre of Utrecht is being redeveloped into an office and meeting centre for the government. Both renovation and new construction work is being carried out within the framework of the redevelopment.
The existing office building from 1989 has a full basement level and its foundations are made up of prefab piles and vibro-piles. The extension is founded on CFA-piles as well as soil displacement piles. A temporary pavilion was built next to the existing office. Due to its temporary nature, a shallow foundation is used.
