Legionella Advice

NEN1006

Legionella prevention is not mandatory for the water supply installations of amongst other things gyms, sports complexes, schools and day care centres. However, to fulfil the legal duty of care, it is important to install, use and maintain the water installation in these "non-priority water supply installations" in accordance with the regulations of the Building Code (NEN 1006). To ensure that the duty of care for proper drinking water is met, SOCOTEC recommends carrying out a NEN 1006 inspection. During a NEN 1006 inspection, we check the entire installation against the requirements set.

You will receive a clear report of the findings. We also indicate which periodical maintenance measures have to be taken to guarantee the water quality.

Investigation of the Source

If a water sample shows that the values of bacterial growth in your water exceed the limit, we will look for the cause of the issue. An investigation of the source will bring to light where there are defects in your water supply installation. We will draw up an action plan to tackle the problem at the source in order to prevent bacterial growth.

Audit

Do you want to be certain that you comply with the current legislation and regulations on Legionella prevention? We can perform an audit to determine whether you are carrying out your Legionella management tasks properly. We can also advise you on how to do so more efficiently in the future. Giving you peace of mind. You will receive a clear report on the audit performed with the action that needs to be taken to further optimise your Legionella prevention. Are you on the right track? We can map it out for you.

Design

Need support with the technical design and sizing of your water supply system? Involve a SOCOTEC consultant from the beginning of your construction or renovation project. We can play an important role not only in the design, but also in construction supervision. Our consultant ensures that the installation is designed and constructed in accordance with the applicable requirements, that the work is carried out in a hygienic fashion and that, on completion, the number of management measures is kept to a minimum. Prevention is better than cure.

Draughting

In accordance with the legislation and regulations, you are obliged to have good technical drawings of your water supply installation. Then you will know where the risks of Legionella growth are. SOCOTEC can help you accurately draught your installation drawings, whether in digital form or on paper.
